The City Of Orange’s Tree Lighting Ceremony and Candlelight Procession is an amazing event that takes place in Old Towne Orange, home to the largest historic district in California. It is free to the public.

The Plaza, which is the traffic circle located where Chapman Avenue and Glassell Street meet, is closed off to traffic, and the entire area becomes a Holiday block-party which culminates in a moving show that includes a tree lighting ceremony and candlelight procession.

The event starts at 3:30 p.m., where we invite the community to come and enjoy good cheer with their neighbors, photo opportunities with Santa, and activities which include crafts, carnival games, and a moon bounce. Food will be sold by local non-profit groups for a nominal fee which goes to support their works in the community.

The official program begins at 5:15 p.m. with the lighting of the tree and the musical sounds of a 350-voice choir and a 60-piece orchestra led by musical director Michael Short. It is about 90 minutes to two hours in length.
